In early September Ukrzaliznytsia announced a tender to buy tyres for rolling stock valued at UAH 47.7 million.

Two companies participated – Interpipe Ukraine and Intervtorprom. Neither decreased their offers, thus raising suspicion.

Journalists of the “Railroad without corruption” project found out that the companies often participated in such trades. This time all the documents were similar.

This comes as no surprise, as in 2012 the State Fiscal Service announced Intervtorprom the property of Victor Pinchuk, owner of Interpipe.

The journalists submitted all the information to the Antimonopoly committee.

Such actions have to be punished by a fine and Ukrzaliznytsia had to cancel the tender. But nothing happened, though Interpipe decreased its price by 8%, thus saving 3.8 million UAH to state budget. (Ukrainian metal)
