Since last week strikes and protests have renewed at the state enterprises Mirnogradugol and Selidovugol.

The reason is that the enterprises have not received state support promised 2 weeks ago.

While the situation is unstable, the mines continue operating. Still, some miners refuse to go underground.

The miners’ unions say if the money to clear salary debts is not found soon, all the enterprises will halt.

According to Mikhail Volynets, chairman of the Independent Miners’ Union, the salary debt to Selidovugol employees is 183.1 million UAH and to Mirnogradugol – 62.2 million UAH. (Ukrainian metal)
