Teams of Zaporizhstal, Azovstal, Yunikas-ТК, LTD (Kriviy Rih) and two teams of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih – Transport Department of Steel Plant and railway transport Department of Mining Department – took part in the sixth professional skill competition among the railway personnel.
Andrey Kindrat, director of the transport department, PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih: “Mining and steel industry is not able to operate without railway transport. Annually we invite real professionals from various industrial companies of Ukraine and also our honored tutors and young generation – students-railwaymen to join the professional skill competition. Every time, organizing this competition, we try to introduce something new, and this year did not become an exception. All participants brilliantly coped with interesting practical tasks and confirmed their theoretical knowledge. We will continue carrying out this competition, because it is a good stimulus to improve ourselves, to correct mistakes and to grow professionally”.
Vladimir Kushnir, locomotive driver-instructor of Zaporizhstal railway transport administration: “The team of railwaymen from our company time after time takes part in the competition held by PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih. We’ve been coming here annually since 2014, team personnel changes, and young perspective workers join our team. The competition is very important, it is a good chance to communicate with colleagues and to exchange experience with other enterprises. It is an excellent chance to discuss various innovations, specific of work and maintenance of railroad trains, locomotives”.
Each team consists of a locomotive driver, an assistant of locomotive driver, car repairman and track serviceman. The program of competition consisted of two parts, which were theory and practice. In theoretical part participants demonstrated the knowledge on profession and labor protection. Testing duration was 30 minutes. The test included 50 questions, each of them had four answers and only one of them was correct.
The traditional tasks of practical part of the competition were service inspection of locomotive and fault diagnosis, driving up to a railway barrier, and assembling a brake valve. Rolling stock repairmen and track servicemen demonstrated their skills during the process of rails fixing to the wooden sleeper, assembling of the automatic coupling, service inspection of a car and a switch layout.
According to the results of all assignments, the railwaymen of Transport Department of Steel Plant of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih are the first. The team of Zaporizhstal has second place, and railwaymen of Yunikas-ТК LTD were the third. Prizes and diplomas were awarded to the winners and prizewinners of the professional skill competition among the railway personnel, and memorable gifts were presented to all participants.
In addition, within the framework of the two-day competition the best workers by occupation were identified. The locomotive driver of Yunikas-ТК LTD became the best locomotive driver, the best assistant of locomotive driver and car repairman were representatives of Zaporizhstal, while the best track serviceman was a representative of Transport Department of Steel Plant of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih.
