The Ministry of industry and trade is constantly monitoring the situation with Rusal and in the cities of its presence. At present “there is no danger”.
The minister Denis Manturov believes that the creation of processing enterprises inside the country will be the best way to help both the industry and the company.
“All the rest – loans for defense orders, tariffs, target purchases, – all these are temporary measures. The main task for us with Rusal is to create powerful centers to process primary aluminum. The level of processing in the last 18 months has grown by 300 thousand tons, to 1 million tons. That’s a lot, given the total volume of primary aluminum manufacture at 3.5 million tons. But we have to move on, increasing processing levels by 300-500 thousand tons per year. While keeping certain exports volumes, it would be wise to keep some 50-60% of the processed aluminum at home”, he said. (Ukrainian metal)
