The channel capacity of the Kamysh-Zarya – Volnovakha route, through which raw materials are delivered to iron and steel works in Mariupol, is still below the desired level.
“The Mariupol direction is still problematic. Only 18-22 pairs of cargo trains per day pass there, while the full operation of Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works and Azovstal requires at least 32 pairs”, Ukrmetallurgprom deputy director Nikolay Abrosimov said.
He has also forecast the worsening of the situation with Russia starting railroad connection of Crimea through the Kerch bridge, as the ship acceptance will be limited.
“After the Kerch bridge is commissioned it will even become worse – we will have to use other ports. The burden will be on the railroad again, which, as we see, cannot cope even with its present volumes”, he added. (Ukrainian metal)
