The first stage to replace rigging of the electrolysis baths has started in the nickel electrolysis shop of Kola Iron and Steel Company.

The work is carried out within the investment project to stop using nickel anodes. Instead, the company will use nickel powder, obtained from tubular furnaces, as raw materials.

The trial batch of the metal produced according to the new technique will be supplied to the London Metal Exchange.

Another stage of modernization presupposes reconstruction of 186 baths, in batches of 20 units.

Step by step the company will switch all of its 476 electrolysis baths to the new technique. Investments in the project exceed 24 billion rubles. (Ukrainian metal)
