In January-March Kazakhstan produced 63.2 billion tenge worth of iron ore, up by 0.8% YoY.
Kostanay region saw the largest output (87.1%, or 55.1 billion tenge, down by 2.9%). It was followed by Karaganda region (10.4%, 6.6 billion tenge, up by 26.4%) and Akmola region (1.6%, 1 billion tenge, up by 41.8%).
Processing industry saw even higher results: ferrous metals output increased by 17.7% YoY, to 453 billion tenge, with Karaganda (50.7%), Pavlodar (25.2%) and Aktyubinsk (16.7%) regions contributing the most.
Iron ore output grew by 4.8%, to 9,8 million tons, including iron ore concentrate – 2.7 million tons, up by 11.4%.
Unalloyed steel rods manufacture grew by 30.9%, alloyed rods by 14.1%, steel pipes by 36.6%, sections and angles by 14.4%, as well as raw steel – by 7.1% and ferroalloys – by 1.1%.
Iron ore exports dropped by 0.6% in tons and by 15.4% in cost, while ferroalloy exports grew by 19.1% and by 22.1%, and flat rolled metal decreased by 2%, but grew by 5.2% YoY respectively. (Ukrainian metal)
