Zaporizhstal has completed the project on environmental reconstruction of its sintering factory.
The cost of the project is some $80 million.
The modernization was carried out in stages: since 2012 the company has been commissioning one new gas-purifying unit each year. Such terms have to do with the fact, that the manufacturing process was not halted.
According to the company CEO Rostislav Shurma, the new gas-purifying machinery collects over 99% of dust. With the new machinery pollution has decreased 10-fold.
In the past 5.5 years Zaporizhstal has invested over 8.8 billion UAH into environment protection programs, including 1.3 billion UAH in 2015, 2 billion in 2016 and 3 billion in 2017. (Ukrainian metal)
