A decree No. 8226 has been registered in the Verkhovnaya Rada.

According to one of the authors of the document, the chairman of the Parliament Committee on industrial policy Victor Galasyuk, the decree suggests prolonging the so-called metal law and increasing the export duty on scrap to 42 euro per ton.

“This is equal to the 20% duty. In China it is 45$, in India – 35%, while Kazakhstan prohibits scrap exports altogether”, he wrote on his Facebook page.

The scrap export duty was increased from 10 euro per ton to 30 euro in 2016. In summer 2017 the Verkhovnaya Rada prolonged it.

The duty increase positively affected the operation of the Ukrainian metal industry, which was suffering from a serious shortage of this raw material. (Ukrainian metal)
