Belarusian specialists are examining a promising gold-bearing site in Sudan, Vasily Kolb, Deputy Head of the Central Office for Natural Resources, Head of the Geology Office of the Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry, declared on March 28.
The agreement to allow Belarusian specialists to search for and extract gold in Sudan was reached as a result of the visit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to Sudan.
“The agreement is being implemented now. One site suggested by the Sudanese side has been examined and found unpromising. The specialists are now working at another site, which looks more promising. If their work is successful, we will go ahead with gold extraction,” said Vasily Kolb.
The official noted that the work was closely overseen by the relevant ministries of Belarus and Sudan.
