In December 2017, 7.2 million tons of ferrous metals were transported via railroad, up by 14.3% YoY. And in 2017 railroads transported 73 million tons of ferrous metals, up by 2.8% YoY.

According to Rosstat, in 2017 rolled metal output grew by 0.7%, pig iron – by 0.5%, pipes – by 4.8% and ferrous metals structures – by 7.9%, all YoY. The growth has to do with the increased demand on behalf of construction, machine-building and automobile industries, as well as exports.

In particular, exports to the USA grew by 40%, or by 800 thousand tons. (Ukrainian metal)
