In 2017 Ukrainian metal works purchased 2.83 million tons of scrap, down by 12.7% YoY.
Scrap covered only 90% of the need.
The average usage of purchased scrap was 133 kg per 1 ton of steel.
At the same time exports of scrap in 2017 increased by 78.5% YoY, to 486.5 thousand tons. The major part of the scrap was exported to Turkey and Moldova. Because of this scrap imports grew by 15.5%, to 25.3 thousand tons. (Ukrainian metal)
