In 2016 consumption of large diameter pipes (LDP) decreased by 35.5% YoY, to 2.14 million tons, as the construction of new pipelines in Russia was slowed.

At the same time the oil-and-gas pipes were in a stable demand, which was projected to remain in the near future following the increase of drills and the replacement of used oil pipelines.

Consumption of oil-and-gas pipes in 2016 grew by 2%, to 3.1 million tons mostly on the back of drilling increase. In early 2000 Russia used to drill some 10 thousand km per year, in 2016 – 25.6 thousand km. (Ukrainian metal)
