ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih miners, who wanted to go on strike on July 26, demanding the increase of salary, postponed it till August 2.
But the company management again says the event will be illegal.
On July 26 the miners had a meeting instead of strike.
“The AMKR administration welcomes the decision of the employees to waive the illegal strike. We deem it illegal, as the norms of the current labor legislation have been breached. The strike has been postponed, but so far there is no legal basis to carry it”, the company stated.
According to the management, the Artem 1 mine is currently profitless, that is why the demand to increase salary to 1 thousand euro per month is groundless.
The company owner has losses because of the mine, but still keeps over 1 thousand jobs.
In April the average salary at the mine was 16840 UAH, and after the increase in May it reached 19090 UAH, more than the average salary at other Kriviy Rih mines. (Ukrainian metal)
