In 2017 Ukraine could decrease steel output to 17-19 million tons.

According to Metinvest marketing director Roman Kurashev, 3 works on the uncontrolled territory have been shut down, and Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works experiences coke shortage.

“Because steel output will decrease, exports will drop as well”, he said.

In 2016 Ukraine exported 17.3 million tons of steel, but could decrease it to 12-14 million tons this year, taking into account that steel consumption in 2016 increased by 3.6 million tons YoY, to 4.6 million tons.

In January-March Ukraine produced 5.596 million tons of steel, down by 8% YoY. (Ukrainian metal)
