In January-February Ukraine exported 1.116 million tons of carbon steel semi-finished products, valued at $409.31 million, down by 12.1% and up by 36.6% YoY respectively.

According to the State Fiscal Service, the main consumers were Italy (19.83%), Egypt (19.77%) and Turkey (19.24%).

At the same time Ukraine imported 717 tons of steel semis valued at $348 thousand, down by 85.6% and by 77.4% YoY respectively.

The main suppliers were Russia (49.43%), Kazakhstan (41.95%) and Bulgaria (8.62%).

In 2016 Ukraine decreased steel semis exports by 0.1%, to 7.746 million tons, valued at $2.211 billion, down by 11.5% YoY. Imports went up by 76.7%, to 18.347 thousand tons at $6.52 million, up by 58.6% YoY. (Ukrainian metal)
