In February Ukraine produced 1.71 million tons of steel, down by 18.7%, or by 393 thousand tons MoM.
The average daily steel smelting in February dropped to 61.1 thousand tons from 67.8 thousand tons in January.
Pig iron production in February decreased by 18.2%, to 1.565 million tons, rolled metal output dropped by 20%, to 1.483 million tons. Steel pipes production, on the other hand, went up by 10.6%, to 84.5 thousand tons.
In February Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works, Donetsk Iron and Steel Works and Yenakievo Iron and Steel Works, situated in the uncontrolled territory, were shut down.
The blockade of the railroad, which unites the uncontrolled territories with Ukraine, has been going on for more than a month. It prevents the delivery of coal needed for the operation of thermal power plants and metal companies. (Ukrainian metal)
