In February Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works and Azovstal, both parts of Metinvest, decreased output by 10% because of the ATO zone railroad blockade.
“Avdiivka Coke and Chemical Works receives electricity from Zuyevskaya TPP, situated on the uncontrolled territory, but registered in Ukraine. This power plant can only use coal mined in Pavlograd and Dobropolye mines (G-grade), that is it has to be delivered through the frontier”, the company CEO Musa Magomedov said.
At the same time, the railroad is blocked by activists, who harm Avdiivka.
“If the coal deliveries to the TPP are stopped the town and its whereabouts will be left without electricity. Then a sharp drop in output at Avdiivka Coke will follow, which employs 4 thousand people, damaging Mariupol Ilyich with 18 thousand employees. By the way, Mariupol Ilyich and Azovstal have already decreased output because of the blockade by 10% to save raw materials. Ad this is just the beginning. Soon Zapoizhstal output will drop as well”, he stressed. (Ukrainian metal)
