In 2016 Cherepovets Iron and Steel Works, a part of Severstal Russian Steel, produced 1 thousand tons of two-ply steel.

“This is a record volume of the rolled bi-metal produced at CherMK for the past 5 years. Because of the high characteristics it could substitute the foreign analogues on the Russian market”, the Severstal Russian Steel CEO Vadim Germanov said.

Severstal owns the unique equipment for electroslag hard-facing to produce two-ply steel.

The rolled bi-metal produced at the Cherepovets Iron and Steel Works is used in chemistry, petro-chemistry and mining, as well as agriculture. (Ukrainian metal)
