Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a number of assignments after the meeting on rare-earth metals production and consumption held in Velikiy Novgorod on July 29, website of the Kremlin said.

In particular, the government is tasked “to consider reduction of the mineral extraction tax (MET) rate in respect of rare and rare-earth metals” by December 1. “Proposals on implementation of main and additional training and advance training programs for engineering staff in rare and rare-earth metals and additive technologies sphere” should also be prepared by that time.

The Cabinet is also assigned a task to actualize the rare and rare-earth metals industry development subprogram by April 15, 2017, “providing for activities aimed at widening application spheres of the said domestic metals in industry”, the website says. (TASS/Ukrainian Metal)
