The pretax losses of Ukrainian metal companies (negative financial results from ordinary activities before taxation) rose by 84.4%, to UAH 22.5 billion, from UAH 12.2 billion as of the end of 2014, according to preliminary data.

Companies increased cargo shipment expenses due to Infrastructure Ministry order No. 13 dated January 26, 2015 on amendments to coefficients applied to rail tariffs in Ukraine and services affiliated with them, which came into force on January 31, 2015. The document stipulates a 30% indexation on tariffs for rail shipments for all freight except for coal, for which the indexation is to be 10% from February and 18.2% from April.
