It is reported that Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works and Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works named after F. Dzerzhinsky (DMKD), the steelmaking subsidiaries of the Ukrainian steel producer Industrial Union of Donbass, have issued their preliminary production results for January.
In the first month of 2011 Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works saw its crude steel production increase by 10% YoY to 280,000 tons, its finished steel product output went up by 12.4% to 262,000 tons, its pig iron production grew by 23.6% YoY to 270,000 tons and its agglomerate production increased by 18.5% YoY to 426,000 tons.
DMKD in January registered a 20% YoY decrease in its crude steel production to 237,000 tons, a drop in its finished steel product output by 17% YoY to 222,000 tons, a fall in its pig iron production by 9.3% YoY to 242,000 tons and a 3% YoY decrease in its agglomerate output to 371,000 tons all compared to January 2010.
