The major Ukrainian steelmakers have released their preliminary production results for the first eleven months of 2009.

Accordingly, during the given period Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol reduced its finished steel product output by 31.5% and its pipe production by 60% YoY to about 2.76 million tons and 36,000 tons respectively. Ilyich crude steel productions decreased by 27.5%, its pig iron output by 23.9% and its agglomerate production by 33.7% YoY.
During January to November 2009, Azovstal decreased its crude steel output by 21.1% YoY to 4.176 million tons, its pig iron production by 18.3% YoY to about 3.61 million tons and its finished steel production by 20.6% YoY to 3.86 million tons. Meanwhile, Azovstal’s metallurgical coke output registered a drop of 12.1% YoY to about 1.84 million tons.
In January to November 2009, ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih produced about 4.06 million tons of finished steel down by 20.4% YoY, 4.54 million tons of crude steel down by 23.9% YoY, 3.975 million tons of pig iron down by 26.2% YoY and about 7.11 million tons of agglomerate down by 21.9% YoY.
During the period in question, Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works reduced its pig iron production by 15.7% YoY, its crude steel production by 18%, its finished steel production by 17% but increased its agglomerate production by 2.9%. The respective figures in tons were 3.02 million, 3.38 million, 3.09 million and 4.175 million.
During January to November 2009, Yenakievo Iron and Steel Works decreased its pig iron production by 19.3% YoY to 1.92 million tons, its crude steel production by 14.2% YoY to about 2.176 million tons, its finished steel output by 18.3% YoY to 2.06 million tons.

Meanwhile, during the given period, the Ukrainian steelmaker Zaporizhstal registered a 16.2% YoY decrease in its finished steel production and a 17.5% YoY decline in its crude steel production to 2.52 million tons and 3.02 million tons respectively. Zaporizhstal agglomerate production went down by 11.7% YoY and its pig iron production declined by 17.1%. The respective figures in tons were about 4.41 million and 2.514 million.
In the January to November period, Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works named after F. Dzerzhinsky increased its crude steel production by 4.54% YoY to 3.13 million tons and its pig iron production by 5.1% YoY to 2.91 million tons. Meanwhile, during the period in question, the plant also increased its output of finished steel by 22% YoY to 3 million tons and upped its agglomerate production by 6.4% YoY to 4.376 million tons.
