Ukraine: coke output down in Q1 2015

Coke and coal supplies to metal and chemical companies are still unstable. In January-March Ukrainian by-product coke plants decreased 6% moisture coke output by 42.6%, to 2.44 million tons, YoY.
In January-February Ukrainian coke works produced 1.63 million tons of 6% metallurgical coke, down by 42.1% YoY, with 735 thousand tons in February and 900 thousand tons in January.
In February Ukraine exported $44.38 million worth of coke, while exports totaled $3.3 million.
In January Ukraine imported $37.42 million worth of coke with exports on the level of $1.74 million.
In January Ukrainian by-product coke plants produced 900 thousand tons of metallurgical coke (6% density), down by 39.6% YoY, but up by 1.1% MoM.
In 2014 Ukraine produced 13824 thousand tons of bulk coke (6% moisture), down by 21.4%, or by 3774 thousand tons, YoY.
In 2014 Ukraine imported $354.26 million worth of coke, with imports on the level of $191.99 million.
According to Ukrkoks association, in 2015 Ukraine will need to import 12-14 million tons of coking coal to meet the domestic demand.
