According to Ukrkoks association, in 2015 Ukraine will need to import 12-14 million tons of coking coal to meet the domestic demand.
In 11 months of 2014 coal output was down by 20% YoY. If the military actions in the East of Ukraine continue, domestic companies would produce only 6.5 million tons of coal.
In November 2014 Ukrainian by-product coke companies received 380 thousand tons of domestically mined coal, or 8.5 million tons in 11 months, down by 32% YoY.
Stores of coking coal at Ukrainian coke companies decreased in November 2014 by 130 thousand tons, to 420 thousand tons. At the same time November witnessed a 3.5% growth in coke output (by 30 thousand tons), to 882 thousand tons, MoM. (Ukrainian metal)
