Zaporizhstal Steel Works has begun supplying rolled steel to Metinvest Tubular Iasi (Romania), which joined the group at the end of 2025. Since the beginning of 2026, the company has shipped 22 thousand tons of hot-rolled steel from structural steel grades certified according to the European standard EN 10025. In total, this year it is planned to supply up to 180 thousand tons of rolled steel to the pipe plant.
“Zaporizhstal rolled steel is in demand among European and Ukrainian pipe manufacturers: every year up to 80% of our metal products are shipped specifically for the production of straight-seam pipes and profiles. We are pleased to welcome Romanian pipe manufacturers to Metinvest Group and establish a new format of cooperation to strengthen the economic partnership between Ukraine and Europe,” said Acting President of the Company. by the General Director of Zaporizhstal, Hero of Ukraine Taras Shevchenko.
Hot-rolled products from calm structural steels are in demand in the pipe industry due to their mechanical properties, which ensure the reliability and strength of finished products. Such products withstand significant loads, including shock loads, work under pressure, are well welded and maintain stable performance characteristics.
“Zaporizhstal’s rolled products are used to produce round, profile and rectangular welded pipes that meet European standards EN 10219 and EN 10217 and are used in geothermal engineering, energy, construction, in particular in fire extinguishing systems, etc. Pipes made of Zaporizhstal steel have confirmed full compliance with high requirements during testing, so we are establishing long-term mutually beneficial cooperation with Zaporizhzhia metallurgists,” noted Kosmin Toma, General Director of Metinvest Tubular Iasi.
The largest consumers of pipes produced by Metinvest Tubular Iasi are the domestic market of Romania, as well as companies from Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and other European countries. (Zaporizhstal)
