Ukrzaliznytsia has held a tender to buy 36 thousand tons of rails.
Seven companies participated in the trade, in particular major manufacturers and traders from Austria, the Netherlands, Japan, the Czech Republic, Belgium and China.
Voestalpine Rail Technology GmbH was chosen the winner. The parties signed an agreement on the supply of 36 thousand tons of R65 rails. The price of the agreement is EUR 32.4 million (EUR 900 per ton).
The tender allowed Ukrzaliznytsia ordering 20% more rails than planned.
With the help of Austrian rails, Ukrzaliznytsia will be able to repair and build 280 km of railroad. (Ukrainian metal)
