Kazakhstan is planning on temporary banning the export of ferrous scrap by railroad, the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Construction has said.
The corresponding draft normative legal act has been made public.
“The world practice shows the use of secondary metals as raw materials is a strategic area given their environmental friendliness and lower energy costs when recycled. In our country, ferrous and non-ferrous scrap and waste are the only and strategic raw materials for 11 domestic metallurgical enterprises,” said the ministry.
The draft decree introduces a temporary ban on the export of ferrous scrap by railroad so as to meet the domestic needs. (Kazinform)
