Builders rejected Zaporizhstal steel, so the Tryzub (Trident) of the Motherland monument to replace the Soviet coat of arms would be made of European metal, the Ministry of Culture and Informational Policy reported.

“Unfortunately, the Zaporizhstal metal does not correspond to technical requirements,” it said.

The metal must have been identical to that from which the monument itself was built. The raw materials had to be both European and domestic. But the batch that arrived from Zaporizhstal showed a considerable difference from foreign metal and project requirements.

The steel provided by Zaporizhstal has different thickness, which could change the weight of the whole structure. Moreover, the metal was damaged. (Ukrainian metal)
