In 2022, Poland decreased steel consumption by 12% YoY, to 13.3 million tons.
“For many years the country has been demonstrating growth in steel manufacture and consumption, while the other EU countries have been experiencing a drop. Now we join this decrease. Steel manufacture last year dropped by 14% and consumption by 12%,” said Miroslaw Motika, executive director of Hutnicza Izba Przemysłowo Handlowa.
Imports fell by 27%, to 3.06 million tons, but still resulted in the drop of domestic production by $6 billion.
Russia supplied 467 thousand tons of steel, down by 71.3%. (Ukrainian metal)
