150 thousand bulletproof vests have been produced and provided to the Ukrainian servicemen under the “Steel Front” initiative of Rinat Akhmetov at Metinvest enterprises since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion.
This is every tenth vest in Ukraine.
The vests made of Metinvest special steel are provided to the military free of charge. Moreover, the protection means are now also provided to communal service employees, emergency brigades and the State Emergency Situations Service specialists, who cope with the results of enemy shelling in the settlements near the front line.
Metinvest capacities allow producing up to 20 tons of armor steel per day. In order to launch production, the group had to look for alternatives for Azovstal armor steel and import rolled metal. For this, Metinvest-SMC has arranged the delivery of metal from Europe and Turkey. (Ukrainian metal)
