In January-July, Kazakhstan produced 66.4 million tons of coal, up by 5.8% YoY.

Energy-generating coal accounted for 9.3 million tons, coking coal – 4.5 million tons, lignite – 2.6 million tons and coal concentrate – 2.3 million tons.

Pavlodar region yielded the most coal – 39 million tons, up by 5%, followed by Karaganda region (21.3 million tons).

Kazakhstan exported 16.4 million tons of coal valued at $457.4 million, up by 20.8% and 2.1-fold respectively.

CIS countries imported 10.9 million tons worth $156.2 million, with Russia accounting for 62.2%.

Non-CIS countries bought 5.4 million tons of coal valued at $301.2 million, with Switzerland leading the rating with 3.7 million tons, up by 73.1%. (Ukrainian metal)
