In January, scrap companies increased deliveries by 53.7% YoY, to 283.7 thousand tons.
Metal companies were provided with ferrous scrap on the level of 142.6%.
As of February 1, scrap stocks totaled 170-175 thousand tons.
Metinvest enterprises and Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Combine received 171.5 thousand tons, up from 101.9 thousand tons in January 2020.
ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih received 58.1 thousand tons (32.8 thousand tons), Interpipe Steel – 44.6 thousand tons (45.7 thousand tons) and other companies – 9.5 thousand tons (4.1 thousand tons).
Scrap procurement in January grew by 61.7%, to 318 thousand tons. Exports increased from 2.8 thousand tons to 19.2 thousand tons, while imports – from 0.4 thousand tons to 2.1 thousand tons.
In 2021, to produce 21-21.5 million tons of steel Ukraine needs 2.9-2.95 million tons of scrap (2.889 million tons in 2020). Export is expected to amount to 80-100 thousand tons and import – 30-50 thousand tons. Ukraine intends to procure 3-3.1 million tons of scrap. (Ukrainian metal)
