The Eastern macroregion (Kharkiv, Donetsk, Lugansk, Dniepropetrovsk, Kirovograd and Zaporozhye regions) is the largest metal-consuming region in Ukraine with the share of over 50%.
In 2019, its share grew to 53.9% from 50.4%.
The Eastern macroregion has a large number of industrial consumers, who use metal products in the manufacture of their own products.
The macroregion also has a lot of infrastructure modernization and construction projects.
In 2019, the macroregion consumed 126 thousand tons of sheets (+26.6% YoY), 55.4 thousand tons of wire rod (+67.4%), 51.8 thousand tons of galvanized metal (+2.5%), 47.4 thousand tons of electric welded pipes (+29.6%), 30.8 thousand tons of rebars (+61%) and 13 thousand tons of cold-rolled coils (+6.4%).
At the same time the consumption of hot-rolled sheet decreased by 13.5%, to 60 thousand tons, and sections – by 10.5%, to 59 thousand tons. (Ukrainian metal)
