In 2019, Russia produced 207 thousand tons of zinc, while the consumption was 260-280 thousand tons. Thus, zinc shortage reaches 50-70 thousand tons.
Kazakhstan supplies 14.84% of zinc and Uzbekistan – 2.8%.
Under such conditions Chelyabinsk Zinc Works intends to increase zinc and alloy capacities. This year it is planned to produce 214 thousand tons of zinc. (Ukrainian metal)
