In 2019, Ukraine mined 31.22 million tons of coal, down by 6.2% YoY.
According to the Ministry of Energy and Environment Protection, coking coal mining grew by 8.8%, to 6.32 million tons, while that of power-generating coal fell by 9.4%, to 24.9 million tons.
In December 2019, coal output dropped by 0.1% YoY, to 2.8 million tons
The ministry-managed enterprises mined 3.57 million tons of coal, down by 13.9%, including 846.1 thousand tons of coking coal and 2.72 million tons of power-generating coal, up by 51.1% and down by 24% respectively.
Donetsk region mines extracted 11.26 million tons of coal, up by 1.3%, Lugansk – 328.8 thousand tons (-33.2%), Dniepropetrovsk – 18.21 million tons (-9%), Lviv – 1.36 million tons (-13.6%) and Volyn region mines – 69.7 thousand tons (-29.5%). (Ukrainian metal)
