The Belarusian steel mill BMZ continues strengthening its position on the global steel market in the segment of products intended for automotive industry, with the relevant sales exceeding $35 million in H1. The company intends to have doubled the figure by the end of the year, BMZ Press Secretary Aleksandr Olesik reported.
According to the source, BMZ started making products for automotive industry back in 2015 when long-product rolling mill No. 2 was commissioned. Since then the company has been authorized by 35 automobile industry companies to ship 65 kinds of metal products. The number includes Hirschvogel and Mahindra Forgings, which make components for the world’s leading automobile concerns Daimler, Volkswagen, Renault, and other ones.
BMZ works hard to find new customers. This year the company has received the first order for 900 tons of rolled metal from a leading European manufacturer of shock absorber springs after a four-year approval process. BMZ now also regularly delivers products to BelZAN Company, which is one of Russia’s top manufacturers of fasteners and springs for automotive industry. This year BMZ has also received the first test order for round steel bars from the bearings manufacturer SKF. Work is in progress to expand cooperation with other customers: Krasnik (Poland), ZKL-Brno (the Czech Republic), and Schaeffler (Germany).
BMZ makes more and more round steel bars for Europe’s largest manufacturer of automobile components – Hirschvogel Company, the factories of which are located in Germany, Poland, Mexico, and the USA.
Apart from increasing its export potential BMZ closely cooperates with Belarusian customers. For instance, the company has mastered the production of rolled products for Belcard Company out of a new grade of steel, which boasts increased hardness penetration.
BMZ, the managing company of the holding company BMC, is a high-tech Belarusian metallurgical enterprise. It comprises four manufacturing divisions that focus on steel smelting, mill products, pipe products, hardware items, and infrastructure shops. BMZ exports more than 80% of its output every year.
