Construction of a 4.8-gigawatt (GW) thermal power plant and an open-pit mine at the Yerkovetskoye coal field with a projected capacity of 25 million tons per year will cost 289.8 billion rubles, the Energy Ministry said in its 2035 draft coal industry program.
The project’s deadline was set in 2021, but the draft also included a similar project with smaller capacities – the plant’s capacity of 700 megawatts (MW) and the mine’s capacity of 4 million tons a year. The smaller project costs 44.56 billion rubles.
Power holding Inter RAO has been developing a plan for construction of the Yerkovetskaya thermal power plant in the Amur region for several years, but it is yet to make a final decision. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
