Southern Kuzbass, a subsidiary of Russian metals and mining group Mechel, has launched production at a 400-million ruble longwall at the Lenin underground mine with reserves of 560,000 tons of coal, the company said in a statement on August 22.

The new longwall should raise the mine’s capacity and production of coking coal.

Monthly loading of working face will stand at 70,000-80,000 tons, the company said quoting Igor Khafizov, CEO of Mechel Mining. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
