ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih is launching a new Ecocity project. Its goal is to support the social and environmental initiatives of the residents of Kriviy Rih on improvement and landscaping of urban areas, resource saving and rational use of waste. The best of them will be financed by the company by allocating grants. The total prize fund of the project is 1 million UAH.
Participants are expected to suggest their ideas, and the cost of each of them shall not exceed 100 thousand UAH. These may include initiatives to arrange flowerbeds in courtyards, develop picnic areas, build slag-concrete in-block roads, and install recycling stations, educational mini-projects and other initiatives. A mandatory condition is that the author personally takes part in the implementation of the idea.
Any resident of the city can become a participant of the project: individually or as a member of an initiative group. Also, nonprofit organizations are invited to participate: public organizations, charitable foundations, associations, unions, condominium associations, etc.
Winners will be identified as transparent as possible. At the first stage, the initiatives shall receive public support – by open online voting. At the second stage, the authors should present their mini-projects to the jury, which will include representatives of ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih, the city council, the public, as well as media partners – “Expert KR” and “Pervyi Krivorozhskiy”. Preference will be given to ideas with a perspective, as well as with the maximum involvement of local residents.
After that, no less than ten initiatives will be identified, which, owing to the company grant, will be implemented within a year – until October 2020. (AMKR/Ukrainian metal)
