Evraz NTMK has chosen suppliers of the main machinery for the modernization of its blast furnace No. 6.

Investments in the project total $150 million.

The main machinery will be supplied by Paul Wurth S.A.

Electric equipment will be supplied by Primetals Technologies.

“The modernization of the blast furnace No. 6 will allow us producing pig iron at two upgraded blast furnaces. After that we will shut down the outdated blast furnace No. 5 thus further decreasing the environment impact”, the company managing director Alexei Kushnarev said.

The volume of the blast furnace after modernization will increase to 2.2 cubic meters, and the annual capacity – to 2.5 million tons of pig iron.

The first deliveries of the machinery are scheduled for Q3. In October 2020 the blast furnace is expected to be blown. (Ukrainian metal)
