The Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center (FESRC) Zvezda may begin using Russia-made steel instead of foreign with Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) and Amurstal among the supplier options.

Currently, steel for Zvezda is delivered from South Korea. In 2016, Rosneft and Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company (UMMC) established a joint venture to develop metallurgical facilities for the shipbuilding complex, but the project had been abandoned by now.

A representative of the Industry and Trade Ministry said that the authority was not considering options of domestic steel supplies to the complex. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
