In December 2018 Russia produced 5.87 million tons of steel, down by 5.9% YoY (5.68 million tons in November 2018). In the whole year steel manufacture increased by 0.3% YoY, to 71.68 million tons.
Ukraine, though no longer a part of CIS, decreased steel output in December 2018 by 0.6%, to 1.885 million tons (1.659 million tons in November 2018). In 12 months steel manufacture totaled 21.1 million tons, down by 1.1%.
Kazakhstan manufactured 380 thousand tons in December 2018, down by 10.6% (370 thousand tons), and 4.565 million tons in 2018, down by 1.7%.
Steel output in Belarus in December 2018 grew by 5.8% YoY, to 220 thousand tons (215 thousand tons). In 12 months Belarus produced 2.46 million tons of steel, up by 5%.
In December 2018 Uzbekistan manufactured 60 thousand tons of steel (same in November 2018), up by 17.6% YoY, and in 12 months – 680 thousand tons, up by 3.5%.
Moldova produced 50 thousand tons of steel in December 2018 (same in November 2018), down by 5.7% YoY, and 570 thousand tons in 12 months, up by 21.8%.
All in all CIS countries in December 2019 produced 8.465 million tons of steel, down by 4.6% YoY (8.034 million tons in November 2018). In 2018 the output totaled 101.055 million tons, up by 0.1% YoY. (Ukrainian metal)
