Every year Russia transports 2.8 million tons of anthracite coal from the territory of the occupied Donbass.
“Until 2014 we used to mine some 20 million tons of coal in Donetsk and Lugansk regions. And now we can say that Russia, having no resources of its own, because of the sanctions and enormous expenses on the military complex, as well as a number of problems in Siberia, both logistic and financial, is trying to find way to finance itself and the temporarily occupied territories”, the minister on temporarily occupied territories and displaced people Vadim Chernysh declared.
According to him, the cost of such coal is $288 million.
“A number of factors confirm that Russian ports handle illegally mined and transported from Donbass coal. For example, the port of Azov in Rostov region has in the past years increased coal throughput by 50%. The same situation is seen in other neighboring ports”, he added. (Ukrainian metal)
