Recently some media have circulated information that UGMK has decided to shut down Electrozinc in Vladikavkaz.
Citizens of Chelyabinsk are worried that the capacity will be transferred to their town and Chelyabinsk Zinc Works will increase output by a third.
But ChelZinc says it has not received any info on the need to increase output due to the shut down of Electrozinc.
“The capacity of Chelyabinsk Zinc Works is 200 thousand tons of zinc per year. This year we will produce 191 thousand tons. We simply can’t increase output by one third”, the company CEO Pavel Izbrekht said.
In 10 years ChelZinc has invested over 4 billion rubles in environment protection measures, decreasing air pollution 1.4-fold. (Ukrainian metal)
