Kyrgyzstanis should understand that the mining industry would help to develop the regions, the President of the Association of Miners and Geologists of the Kyrgyz Republic Orozbek Duisheev declared.
According to him, Kyrgyzstan is rich in natural resources, but the local population often opposes development of the deposits.
“The president said that we needed to pay attention to the regions. The development of the mining industry will create jobs, improve infrastructure and increase revenues to the budget,” Orozbek Duisheev said.
He added that the residents of the regions did not understand the significance of the minerals. There are contradictions between the investors and the population.
“Enterprises help regions, for example, Kumtor allocates money on an ongoing basis to the Issyk-Kul Development Fund. Or when Min-Kush worked, Naryn region did not live at the expense of the government subsidies,” Orozbek Duisheev said. (24.kg/Ukrainian metal)
