Evraz ZSMK has put into operation a machine to thicken slums from blast furnace gas-purifying equipment.

With the new machinery the intake of water from the Tom River and the wastewater discharge will decrease by 3 million cubic meters.

“In the past 6 years, the discharge of waste water has dropped by 15 million cubic meters. The water protection measures of the company are envisaged till 2022. Investments will total 1.8 billion rubles”, the company managing director Alexei Yuriev said.

Next year similar machine will be installed in the converter shop, thus decreasing river water intake by additional 1.5 million cubic meters per year. (Ukrainian metal)
