Russian aluminum giant UC RUSAL has not received a notification of resignation of Oleg Deripaska, the company said in a press release on May 21.
“As at the date of this announcement, the company has not received any formal resignation from Mr. Deripaska,” RUSAL said.
On May 18 En+ Group announced resignation of Deripaska from the company’s board of directors and also said that Deripaska would be replaced by an independent director at RUSAL’s board.
On April 6 the U.S. imposed sanctions against 38 Russian tycoons, officials and companies including En+ Group.
Deripaska is trying to move his company out of the sanctions list by reducing his stake to below 50% and leaving the board of directors although the U.S. Department of Treasury said it might not work. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
