Ukrainian steelmakers boosted steel output by 4.7% YoY in March, to 1.7 million tons, having slid from the 12th to the 14th place in the international steelmakers rating drawn up by the World Steel Association (WSA).
In January-March Ukraine reduced steel production by 2.8% YoY.
China continued to top the rating in March with 73.9 million tons of steel (+4.5%). It was followed by India (9.227 million tons, +5.3%), Japan (9.082 million tons, +2.2%), the United States (7.261 million tons, +5.3%), South Korea (6.095 million tons, +4.7%), Russia (5.7 million tons, -0.9%), Germany (3.9 million tons, +0.6%), Turkey (3.368 million tons, +7.6%), and Brazil (3.065 million tons, +7.6%).
In total, the 64 countries ranked by the WSA increased steel output by 4% in March, to 148.33 million tons. China also topped the WSA rating in January-March with 210.797 million tons (+5.4%). (UNIAN/Ukrainian metal)
