Metinvest will try to make the European Commission cancel the fixed duty of 60.5 euro per ton for the delivery of hot-rolled coils to the EU.

According to Metinvest CEO Yuri Ryzhenkov, Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works, the capacity of which is 1-1.5 million tons of hot-rolled coils per year, used to supply some 150-170 thousand tons to the EU.

“Thus, it was not that big a volume. Zaporizhstal, on the other hand, supplied around 700 thousand tons”, he said.

Ryzhenkov hopes to cancel this duty.

“We believe this duty could be reviewed this year, a year after its imposition. After that we have the right to claim the review”, he said.

So far, the duty has been in effect for half a year. (Ukrainian metal)
